Default A great time fishing....

Went fishing yesterday for the first time this year. Little farm pond in Kentucky with wind 15-20mph. I caught 3 bass (2 of them in the 2 pound range and the other was 1.25 pounds). They were caught on a 3" black/blue metal flake tube with 1/4 oz weight. Oh by the way they were caught within 10 casts of each other. For a few minutes the action was fast. I realize there were no real big fish, but for the first day of March I was happy.

How's the fishing been elsewhere?

'fishin9,

Sorry to hear that the bite has been that bad. I guess I will put my rod/reel down this weekend. I am heading to Pickwick for the FLW tour weigh in on Saturday afternoon. My family and I are going to cheer on a friend who made the cut. Hope you get the chance to fish!

every year i go to the weigh in for BFL tour on lake erie in September!! Always fun to see a 6-7 lb. smallie being weighed in! Plus i get to help carry the weight in bags full of hawgs back down to the boat that relases them... great fun!!

Well, I was unable to go to FLW weigh in. My three year old got sick yesterday and I didn't figure riding 5 hours with a puking kid would be fun. I will go see it when they come to Kentucky Lake in May.

I live in Paducah, KY. The great thing is that I live less than 1/2 hour from Kentucky lake. Bad thing is I need a bigger boat to get on that lake. I don't think my 10.2 basshound with a 44lb trolling motor will do the trick! I am currently in the market for a used bass boat. I am looking but not found the one for me, yet! Are you a wildcat fan?

Ken,

the cats are pretty sad this year! Maybe next we will be better. Ever go to Rupp? I have season tickets, but I haven't been to fired up about this years team.

Congratulations on a good day fishing. Hope to get out tomorrow if the monsoon breaks.

They sure have made it difficult haven't they. The three seven-footers have sure made a difference this year. LOL

It is raining so hard here that it looks like a trout stream running down the road. Maybe I can sneak away from work tomorrow and go pond fishing! Where do you fish at in Henderson?

wow everettvet,
I bet I've been by your house a time or too..we always stay in benton every spring to fish ky tournies and go to paducah for beer and walmart..when I got all my stuff stolen from big bear marina I had enough money left that day to get a rod n reel in paducah for the tourney ...
We arent going this year but I plan on showing denny the ropes of big bear, the moors, jonathen, blood river and smiths cove,,
heck each cove at ky lake is bigger than lakes arouind here rofl

I mainly do what it sounds like you do and that is pond fishing. I did just purchase a permit to fish on some coal mining property that I hear is very promising. I also plan on trying out Audubon State Park lake, but from what I hear it is nothing special, but it is still fishing. They apparently don't don't do anything to promote and/or improve the fishery there. I have a friend who takes me to a private pond in Crittenden Co. that is small, but loaded with big fish. My options are limited by not having a boat. I hoped to get one over the winter, but EVERYTHING about our new house cost more than estimated. Nevertheless, whether it be by land or by sea, I still love to fish!
By the way,
I really think UK is trying to lose this game.

I suppose they have a little bit..but me being me..I always have hope and just KNOW they'll pull the next one out. I have been a couple times, but usually can't get a ticket..so I mainly watch on the good ole TV. The last time I went to rupp this year was for Midnight Madness...but since we're having this year I might not go back! lol

Where at in Crittenden Co.? There is a nice looking pond on Main Lake Road, but I have never fished it. My wife has a some family there and I get up when I can.

UK did their best to let Ole Miss win. If they play like that today, Bama will stomp them. Don't get me wrong, I love my Wildcats! But, I am a realistic fan and I know they can be beat.
