i check them every couple of months more so in freezing temps these aint excatly sealed tight you know. after i pull my boat out and get it home in the winter i will put the grease gun on it and give it a squeeze. this keeps the water even minute amounts from getting in. if there is water in your bearings and it frezes it will expand busting the inner seal causing grease lose and if not caught bearing termanation..

I check them every couple of trips and replace the hubs once a year. I used to replace the bearings once a year until I found the entire hub was about $10 more that the bearing kit, so I replace the whole thing.

Yeah, it's a good idea to keep an eye on all the moving parts frequently. Better safe than sorry. Don't forget the air pressure in your tires on both your vehicle and trailer, and if you can remember, recheck your tire's air pressure before heading home too, you never know when you're going to pick up a nail or other hazard along the way.

Im getting ready for this winter to convert mine to the oiler hubs, one of my buds did an they work great. oil gets milky they got water, drain an refill. you can feel a rough bearing by spinning the wheel while on a jack an with a side load. watch the clear glass cap to make sure the oil level is correct. most of the new boats have them as a option. his is coming up on 2 years old an no trouble so far.
