New personal best
I have a new job down in Montgomery and my boss has a private 3+ acre pond that he gave me permission to fish anytime. It is only 3.5 miles from the office so, of course, I plan on hitting the pond during my lunch breaks. The pond is rarely if ever fished now so I know I will catch quite a few fish.
I went out once last week and caught 4 fish but all were under 2 lbs. Today, I went out with a feeling that I was going to catch a big one. I started out landing three 1 to 1.25 lbrs. After about 15 minutes, I moved over to the other side and landed a 2lb 2oz fighter. I caught 3 more 1.5 to to 1.75 lbrs in the next 15 to 20 minutes. I then saw some activitiy near the island in the middle of the pond. I tried to cast a s close to it as possible and then let the lizard slowly sink and slowly reel it back in across the bottom. The line straighted and I set the hook. I thought is was another 1.5 to 2 lber but I reel her closer into the bank the drag took off. I had the drag set at around 10 lbs so I immediately started to work the fish instead of forcign it. It was a good thing that I did because when I finally landed the 3lb 9oz girl, I saw that she was barely throat hooked. After I lipped her, I gave a small tug on the hook and it popped right out. I caught 4 more fish after the big one that ranged from 1.5 to 2 lbs. Sorry I do not have any pictures yet. I took a pic of the big one with my cell phone and I do not know how to download it to the computer. I will try this evening. I will definitely take a digital camera next time. This is truly a perfect little honey hole near my job. |

You are probably gonna break that number several times if you just started fishing the pond.

This is my boss's 3.5 acre lake and I have only been working there for 3 1/2 weeks so far. I'm not going to push my luck. My boss is great and I love my job. He said I could bring my kids down on the weekend to fish. I drive 1.25 hours 5 days a week. I'm not so sure I want to do that on the weekend too since I have a lot of other honey holes within 10 to 15 miles of the house.
