rut row!!
i was moving the old terry boat across my folks yard sunday. when i heard a loud pop.the frame on both sides broke right near the front of the fender well. one side all the way the other 1/2 way in too. NOT good!! i called a friend asked him if he still had the old trailer behind his barn. grabbed pops car hauler tonight after work went and got the old -in much better shape-trailer. no hub on one side and the wood was toast but for the money i grabbed it. used the winch to haul the trailer out of the poison ivy and briar brush.. paid my friend not much and hauled butt with it..
i yanked the terry boat off the thrashed trailer and backed it in to pops workshop. me and a torch spent the last couple hours removing useable parts. got the wheeled jack, winch, winch stand, both hubs, rollers that were good, and the lights.. my question is on the better trailer i got from my friend the wheel shaft is rusted how do i go about getting the hubs i have -both trailers use the same size-down on the stud? should i sand the rust off with sanding paper? wire brush ?? the threads and king nuts are all good?? i have never a problem getting a bearing over the same size shaft before.... zooker

Did you try a heavy WD-40 coat? Some of that, maybe a little Pb blaster, and a crapload of elbow grease might fix things up....

I woulda wire wheeled it with a fine wheel, then finished with some steel wool type stuff. Of course, a sandblaster woulda been a nice thing to have!
