Default Help!!!

I went fishing today, and after a cast, I noticed my reel was making a grindy noise when I retrieve! HELP! It's an ABU GARCIA REVO STX. Everything else is fine, but the reeling isn't. How do I take this thing apart?

Joolz-the paperwork that came with the reel should have a schematic diagram in it. Before you take it apart I'd take it back and see if you can exchange it-you haven't had it very long. If that doesn't work contact Abu and see what they recommend.

Joolz,
From experience DON'T take apart anything your not comfortable taking apart, I've wrecked more stuff than I've ever fixed !!! If Rebs suggestions aren't possible, Most baitshops have someone hanging around who can help you, often for free, It can't hurt to ask.

Thank you so much guys, but it sounded like something was kind of loose in the reel, so I shook it to see if it would go back into place. It worked, and my reel is now fine.

Thanks again.

Mabe had some dirt in the pawl?

For future reference, check here for schematics, especially if you're like me, and ditch the boxes your stuff comes in. I've not been able to catch a fish with a box yet!

Quite true-I had a BPS Extreme reel strip a gear and on Flyrod's advice-actually, he had checked with BPS and found out they would exchange it-I took it back and got a brand new one.
