I need info on a Ranger boat
I am looking at a boat. It is a Ranger model R61 Sport w/ a 90horse evinrude motor. The boat year is 1998 and engine year is 1997. The length of the boat is 16'10". It seems in pretty good shape. Is anyone familar with that model of ranger or have info that would help?

I run a 150 Evinrude on a Ranger 481. It is the slowest 6 cylinder in my club.
(kinda proud of that). A little cold natured but runs great. Bassenforcer, I hear ya. Not with Z***** in it ! Thats a funny !

Nice boat but too heavy for the lil 90. She will be doing quite well to get into the mid 40's due to the weight of the boat. All in all I cant take anything away from ranger. There solid built have a high resale and good folks to work with just slow boats. And that aint bad.

Personally
I haven't been in one of the new Z series yet but I was on Gaston Lake a few weeks ago in a tournament and was paired with a guy that had a fast Skeeter that had a 200 yamaha on it. Pegged past 65mph. Any way dude blows by us in Z21 with a merc 225 like we were going backwards. I think that some of those newer rangers are pretty darn fast.

Laser, What will that do to the fishing ability of them ? The old Rangers was a great boat to fish from, they were on the slow side getting you there, but They fished nice and slow when you got there . P N J

the faster they design a hull the worst riding it is. such as a bullet or an allison think cement truck with square wheels zipping down the lake at 80+mph. fast not smooth this is the performance hull design delima.. zooker
