Default just doing homework,3 Q's 4-ya

I'm just doing some homework on fishing I would like to learn about the moon phase's .The whole 1/2,full,1/4..ect.how they effect the fish.Does anyone know a good site to look at.I have looked but they were so.so.
Also when you guys are getting ready for the lake or just get on the lake how do you piece a pattern together? I already like everyone else now the weather forcast, clound cover or clear for when I go.....Oh just thought of something ,do you guys carry a barometric pressure gauge on your boats? I was thinking of putting a gauge on the dash or in the boat locker.no trying to drive anyone crazy,I'm just trying to fish smarter Thanks

i usually try to fish a craw imitation bait during moon phases, and if you look at moon charts, all species are way more active and feed more aggressively during full moon cycles, and spawn during full moon cycles...
plus all the crazy's in mental hospitals go nuts during this period, police depts. see way more crimes(shootings etc)
so my pattern if the weather is stable and full moon I'd hit the banks on every cast , rather than fishing deep

i know that the darkest nights with NO moon are the hands down best time to fish at night. why? damed if i know. i think the full moon tends to liight the water with a funny color light and the fish shy away from this weird light..

i don't know much about moon phases or barometric pressure..just don't pay any attention to it.i fish when i can or must whatever the conditions..
if i'm fishing and somebody says .."uh,oh,the barometric pressure is rising"do you honestly believe a true basser will say"oh,dang!we better get off the water the barometer is rising"..i don't think so...if you have a tourney scheduled would you say"dang!it's the wrong moon phase,i better not fish this tourney"..?..i don't think so...
save yourself alot of worrying about phases and barometers..let the weatherman worry about it...go fish!

yeah, I've found the barometric pressure to be somewhat nonsense, because I've caught enormous amounts of bass when the conditions were supposed to be barometrically horrible.. also-moon phases-I've never seen them do anything

but that's just me,

Moon phases are real, but as Bassintom says fish whenever you can. It's only one factor, along with Barometric pressure, and fishing pressure, and water temps, and so on and so on and so on. Just go fishing LOL. I will say that if planning a fishing trip, I try, try mind you, to go when there is a full moon.

I've always heard the biggest fish are usually caught three days before and three days after the full moon. Is there a scientific reason? Beats me. I'll try to put it to the test tomorrow-see if they bite the morning after a full moon.

Yeah, I'll have to say that I too, don't pay much attention to moon cycles or barometric pressure, I am aware that they DO have an affect on the "mood" of the fish, but I just go whenever I can. Check out Google for research on your homework though, if your still concerned.
Here's an interesting article though on the subject for you.

I believe they do make a difference Denny, but a lot of other factors also make a difference. To me the 3 biggest things in Bass fishing that affect your fishing day are.
1. Barometric Pressure.
2. Cold Fronts
3. Fishing Pressure

That is just my opinion, but it has been true for me in my experience.

Denny keep a log of every day you fish. Write down the moon phase, bar. pressure, type of water (clear stained or muddy) time of day, baits used, etc. This will help you answer your questions.

Rebbasser gave out a fishing log data forms here once.I believe the moon phase and the barametric pressure has a great effect on fishing.I use the moon clock for best trout fishing times for lake trout. Its usually correct 90% of the time the bite falls in the best time of the moon clock.I don't know much about it, I am like Tom, I fish when I can and try to figure out a way to put a few fish in the boat every time out.If you figure something out let us know. The moon clock was a pie chart for the year and it was made in Georgia.I don't have one any more, been meaning to find another one last one I bought was 5 years ago, it cost like $6.00 , but it was worth it if you lake trout fish.I never applied it to bass fishing.to know whether it worked on bass or not.P N J
