I fish a lot of ponds so I like shallow running cranks to avoid the bottom in shallow water.

I do well in small waters with Mann's M-1 and Daiwa's Peanut that dives to about 4ft....on the Peanut, just change their hooks to Gama size 6 trebles, the factory ones are weak IMHO.
Tight Lines...

Modern crankbaits are all good, if I were to make me an arsenal of crankbaits I would look no further: Rapala.

I have had a lot of success with the Rapala DTs. My only complaint is that if you are fishing lots of rocky ledges, the bills will sometimes come apart. The DTs are my "go-to" crankbaits.

the fat free shad/fry is one of my winter go to cranks..

the only bait no one has spoken about is the norman cranks.. if your into cranking there had better be more than a few norman baits in your box..
i with good reason use alot of norman deep lil n's in ps firetiger.

i also throw a bunch of lucky crafts fat cb d-12-yeah i know ouch- but ya can't refuite the evidence..

exhibit A

exhibit B

not to mention i caught my personal best crankbait fish on a lucky craft fat cb d-20.. which i do NOT have a picture of..but he weighed 9 pounds 3 ounces in JULY..

oh yeah you know i am goin to spend some MAJOR TIME in that place during the spawn..

I have a lot of success with Mann's crankbaits. Anything from a Baby 1 Minus to the Baby 8 Minus

I agree with what everybody has said so far, my major cranks include: Rapala DT's, Norman Thin N and Middle N, Mann's Baby 1-, Bandits (100 - 300's) and I do also like the Strike King Series baits (1XS, 1, 3, 4, 4S, 5, and 6).

Bandit 100 and 200, Norman DD, Mann's Baby 1, Strike King Pro Series 3&4, and the Rapala DT's are very nice and won't break the bank. Lucky Craft RC's are excellent for shallow water and go on sale every winter, I think $10.99 this year (worth two DT's).

Now if you really want to go expensive check out IMA and Brian's. Sweet cranks!

Rapala is my overall favorite for all cb types. I also like Cotton Cordell's wiggle O. DTs rock and here's the proof:

Rapala DT6

My home lake here in SW Washington is pretty shallow.

In saying that, I use my Luhr Jensen Speed Traps ALOT! I love these patterns and their action...I also enjoy my Mann's though!

Multiples of Bandits 100 Tenn. Shad.

Avoid Diawa Lures, they may know how to make reels, but lures no sir!

DanielBP, I think it all depends on the situation but I throw a lot of Bandit 200 series and absolutely love to throw Storm Wiggle Warts.
Lucky Craft Sexy Shad are pretty good, but tough on the wallet.

For cranking shallow to mid-depth laydowns, where making contact with the wood is a must to trigger strikes, I love the Lucky craft RC2.5 I've experimented with quite a few and for me nothing comes through the thick stuff better.
