Default seems some folks need a...

refresher course on how to operate a bait caster...if you change the lure on a bait caster. making sure the reel is set up to cast the bait you just tied on is needed EVERY TIME..

if you have forgotten how to properly adjust your baitcaster. please don't be shy and post up. i am sure a handful of people will answer your question...

What, you mean baitcasting reels are adjustable? I thought that dial on the side was for keeping track of how many fish you caught during the day! Hmmm. I always wondered why it started on 1 fish instead of 0 fish....

Got my wife started castin baitcasters. Never thought I would see the day, lol. She's always been a spincast and spinning gal. And she's doing pretty good. So far no back lashes!

You know, Zooker...you gave me an idea. Of course it's up to you and others, as to how much of your time you'd be willing to give. If we sort of offered some informal short clinics on some of these skills at the next year's event...would it encourage more people to come? People who might otherwise feel like they're not skilled enough to merit the trip? I like how informative this site is, but it can definitely be intimidating to a beginner, I believe.

I could always offer some instruction on how to let your boat float away.

bryce, i like the idea pal. for real i do, but.......the get togethers are for fun and meeting one another in person. laying back, relaxing, jibbing one another and so forth.
now if this becomes as big as i WANT it too. then YES! by all means let's try to have a few seminars for some of the new to bassfishing folks. i want this get together event to become a huge FAMILY event for people that are on this site. bring others into it too. so at the get togethers, please bring a non member friend. maybe after meeting some of us, they will join.
as for the seminars, we would need to have...........say....a flipping leson from some of our best flipping members, spinnerbait champs, the same. and so on and so forth. that sound good? i would love it if we could get 3d to show us some of his tube techinques. and that is my opion on it, what are everyones elses?

like i said. i want it to become a FAMILY event. so at the next event, there better be more wives and girlfriends (if you got one, if not....rent one, lmao.) there ok? kids are most welcome. after all, they are the future of this site.

since we all go to a lake that most have never been to, I'd like to see the group get together and discuss fishing migration and where on the lake to go to from the local anglers here on the forum. For instance at Ky lake I could tell ppl what to expect and areas to go, or John doing the same at last years guntersille. It would help new ppl to eliminate time wasted searching waters that aren't as productive. Depth, lures , ideas like that discussed in maybe a one hour venue at the next gathering.

That's a great idea JB. While everyone will probably have a great time even if they don't catch a bunch...they will undoubtedly have a great time if they do.

how exactly do you think i found that lil spot i showed bama and bb144?? i asked a local..

i had some good info about the lake from other poeple who fish that lake.. all i really needed was a hint or two..everyone one i spoke with about ky lake said pnj or the carolina was the fish catcher..and it was, though the rootbeer/chart bandit crankbait caught a few..

these get togathers are more about meeting folks face to face, than actually fishing..the way it should be imo...

I actually was thinking next years event we should call local guides and see how much it would be to have one of them conduct an hour or 2 seminar the first night of the trip on local fishing spots and tactics...pool our money.

Fantastic idea, WTL. I would bet we could get a pretty good price, considering the guy doesn't have to actually GUIDE anyone...just talk to us and maybe point at a map. This next year's event is gonna be a good'un.

That was one of the nice things about the Kentucky lake Get Together. There were plenty of fishing reports available leading up to the event. We were able to read about what the fish were biting on, and where, and what tackle to stock up on. The fishing reports were dead-on about the Bandit Rootbeer/Chartreuse catching fish, WOW! Then, if we were able to follow all of this up with a little help from a fishing guide, I might even be able to catch a few fish...

Exactly bama! Oh, speaking of never living things down: you may not catch many, but if you'd stick with that big Zara Spook you were trollin' with at Guntersville, you might get some big uns!

JB, that's really funny!
Of course we can't forget about the fella that was responsible for all of this, S4il's(Bryan's) dad, Ray -Mr. Blue Grass himself, now there was a colorful person. I wonder if he ever found that Gibson Banjo that he always wanted. hahahaha

I think he did find it, he had many leads but was fixed on a price he wanted to pay. I haven't heard from S4il or his dad since we got back.

My dad and I were just talking about the people that didn't come back after the get togethers. I think he was the only one this year. But we had a couple after the Guntersville gathering. interesting, ain't it?
