Plastic Worm Question

I just bought 2 new tackleboxes at Wal-Mart. They are really great, in that they have 4 seperate see-through plastic individual boxes, which are held together by a snap, yet slide out indiviually like drawers. I can see my baits for once, and only pull out the box I need. BUT, I remeber some other boxes where I stored plastic worms and other plastics, and after a long time, they "ate" my plastic tacklebox! Is this going to happen again? Is there a tip I could use to stop them melting the plastic in the tacklebox? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

It was due to the plastic softner in the worms that melted your tackle box.I gather all of the new tackle boxes are supposed to be worm proof meaning you shouldn't have a melt down.If you are ereal worried about it use the ziplock type snack bags to put your worms in where as they are small enough to fit in the trays.

Surfman, if you use any of the 3X or cyberflexx stuff, be sure to keep it away from the other plastics. It'll turn them to mush, too.

i would keep them in bags, better for organization too.

Shouldn't be a problem, surfman. Tackle boxes now are worm proof. Pig is correct, though-don't mix Strike King 3X baits with regular worms-they all turn to mush.

Depending on the brand of tackle boxes, they should be worm proof. I wouldn't be too certain about off brand stuff though. I know that all Plano, Falcon, Flambeau, etc boxes are wormproff.

I havent had a problem, just dug out an old tackle box that I haven't seen in a couple years full of plastic baits. Maybe it's just the brand of tackle box

For those times when I am backseating someone else's boat I have purchased a large duffle bag at Walmart for $11.00 that is larger than most "tackle bags" with the same number of additional compartments and large enough to transport 7 of the large Plano tray boxes (Which you can usually purchase for $9.00 to $10.00 for 3 ea., and they are indeed "worm-Proff").
