Default Hey Jrob!

I wonder if this is that same kid we meet at Allen Park..hahaha!

Jrob and I meet this Kid while fishing a few weeks ago..Good kid,but he was fishing a spinning reel on an Ugly Stick ''casting rod''...I ask him if he knew that it wasnt a spinning rod,and he replied ''Well the guy at DICKS said it was a ''special spinning rod''.....Poor kid was ripped off by some idiot employee.
Anyway this craigslist ad reminded me off that.

That guy should be horse whipped.. the employee I mean. Then again, from what I've seen from the employees at Dicks, he probably didn't know anything more than the kid did.

Well you can bet that me and Jrob change his life forever...hahaha...Told him to take his dad with him back up to Dicks and straighten that out..Told him what to look for and the differences between the two rods.(and also what to tell that dicks employee)

the kid also ask me if I had a bobber...I dug around and found a beat up one that I gave him..Then he proceeded to fish a roadrunner (no body) with a bobber

So we both dug around for grub bodies, I gave him two different ones to chunk with ..Explained that he didnt need a bobber for that lure..
Then we tried to teach him baitcasting reels since he was impressed with all the rods we had with us,lol.....
He just wanted to hang out and fish with us,and I got a soft spot for that.

But I was really irritated by dicks selling him a casting rod for his spinning reel...I suppose when you dont know, you dont know.

Exactly what you should've done. Some people would've laughed, shrugged, and left him to his own devices. Good man.

Of course, now the bait monkey has the poor kid on his radar. You've just cursed him for life.

That's great that you guys helped him out!

But what I really want to know is where did the guy in the craigslist ad pay over $350 for 3 shakespeare combos?!?!

Judging how he's got those spinning reels sitting on the casting, rods with that handy finger grip on top... nuff said?

Oh man, that bottom pic of the ugly stick casting rod looks just like what that kid had except he had a big 4000 spinning reel on it. Poor kid, he was as nice as he could be and really loved fishing. I looked for him when I went back out there last weekend but he wasn't there.

He was kind of overweight, not bad but....idk, just a kid that you instantly liked and wanted to take under your wing. I think we were both pretty mad that he got taken advantage of either intentionally or out of ignorance. He was holding this 6' Ugly Stick that was about as big as a broom stick saying "yeah but it's a really good rod, i wondered why that point was there, it's a really good rod though." He said he even took his reel in with him when he bought the rod!! Hope he got it straightened out. "Special spinning rod?!?"

That's not a casting rod, kudos to the DICK's salesman for introducing that young man to the cutting edge technology created by the toughest and most sensitive rod on the market. That's the new hand sensitivity horn being used throughout the industry to keep you hand in the exact same position and increases casting by 112%. You should be seeing it on all rods pretty soon. End of sarcasm. That's about as bad as going in Lowe's or Home Depot now. They advertise a good game of knowledge, but don't know !@#$. Goof job on helping the kid out though Waffle and Jrob.

I thought maybe it was a sight to help hit the targeted area when casting. I wonder if they'll come out with a casting scope?

If it weren't for the fact that this could be that same kid, I'd e-mail him an a** rippin for postin such obvious crap on craigslist.
Even if it is the same kid though, he realistically still deserves it for not being honest

Definitely not the same kid, the add is from Irving TX, this kid was in Allen. The two cities are 40 miles apart. Let the a** rippin begin.

If it does, it will have an "As Seen on TV" sticker and Roland Martin's picture on the side.

Jrob "He was kind of overweight, not bad but....idk, just a kid that you instantly liked and wanted to take under your wing."
I see why you are helping me with my rod building because I am chubby, huh. HAHAHAHAHA

Haha, yep, I have soft spot in my heart for chubby fisherman.

Nah, i just meant he seemed like the type of kid that might get picked on. I sort of get defensive for people who can't always defend themselves.
