Default St. Croix Premiere

i am looking at buying a new rod, specifically a 6'6 footer St. Croix Premiere. now for the question this rod will be used for jerkbaits and throwing lures into tight spaces, and maybe some topwaters. so should i get a Med. or Med. Hvy power. i wanted to see what you guys think. i plan on using 17 pound test.

Thanks

I love my premier. It is a 6ft 6in M. I wouldnot fish jerkbaits on 17 lb line.

If you are gonna use it for trebble baits then go with the medium rod with a moderate tip. If you want to fish plastics or jigs, or anything else for that matter go with a Medium heavy with a fast tip. You'll love either one of those rods.

I have 4 of the St. Croix Premieres and you will be very happy with it. As Lizard posted, if you plan to flip jigs I would go with the MH.

M 6'6" will probably work well for you. Have to say that I bought a 7'0" MH Prem. rod at the end of Jan. I attached a Shimano Scorpion reel and 20lb test mono line. I took it with me to the Richmond Bassarama to use as a demo rod for the jigs and trailers I was selling. During the day a friend was testing the action of the rod and pulled down on the line/lure and snapped it just below the 3 eye . Wasn't the first time it was tested that day .
Now the good thing is they are willing to send me a replacement at no cost . I just have to ship it to them. Gonna cost me a little to mail it to them .
