Default BassNewbie finally gets some fish

Well guys, after my 4th trip, I finally have something to show for it, and pretty much owe it all to the advice from you guys.

I got 3 smallmouth total, all around the same size. Nothing to brag about but sure makes me happy as ive been getting skunked all summer.

caught 2 with a 8inch pink work drop shotted, and the final (biggest one) on a rapala x-wrap crank.

Was lucky enough the wife was close on the middle fish and got a picture for me.

Thank for the help guys

Well like my name says, im new to all this so I could be wrong.

But when its mouth was closed the hinge of his mouth ended well before his eye, so I thought that defined him as a smallmouth.

No biggie -- either way you caught some bass, which is really at that matters! It's hard to tell from the picture, but based on the coloring I can see, it doesn't look like a smallie to me. I could sure be wrong, though!

It's a Spotted (Kentucky) Bass. I should know. It's our official state fish
