Topwater Lures
What is your favorite topwater lures? I am looking to stock up on toapwater baits this spring... my favorite for last year was a Berkly Frenzy Pop-R, or a Rebel Pop-R! What is your favorite lure for walking the dog? Also, what is an average all around pound of line strength to use? Should i go with mono or braid? Thanks!
Ryan

You can't go wrong with a zara spook or a buzz. I also like the jitterbug.

yep...yep
Zara spook is a killer topwater bait, two sizes that I know of Zara Orig. and the baby spook...killer and I might add fun to fish.Be patient with it to learn how to walk the dog...took me a little bit but I got it.Buzzbait!!! OH yeah...me and Jb like these alot!!!! use a trailer for them all. Zoom makes them.Really the only colors I think you need is white, black ,chart. and white/chart.I threw all of these on 12lb test trilene and the worked great.BUT!!!!! my favorite topwater bait is the frog,I caught more fish on the frog last year than anyother bait.I bought a frenzy pop-r and I didn't
do very good with it.I will like JB be throwing the Zoom horny toad, can't wait to try it. Denny |

Back to the question-A Zara Spook and a Tiny Torpedo. I use mono for ANY bait that has treble hooks.

ALL TOPWATERS are my favorites when they are hitting topwater LOL.
Night time, a Jittebug or Pop-R. Daylight Buzzbait, or Spook. Now if they aren't tearing up the Spook I won't fish it long, just too much dang work. Lizards

like all these guys i love the spook, and buzzbaits are awesome as well. but one bait that i fell in love with also is the spit n image! it walks the dog with ease and cast like a bullet. i caught an 8.8 lb bass on it last year. for those florida guys that may not sound like much but here in missouri that is a fish that you may only get once in your life!

I use a Strike King spit-n-king, Zara super spook jr., Zoom horny toad, and a Hart buzzbait. I like 10 or 12 lb. Trilene Sensation for pop-rs and spooks.

I like the Arkansas woodchopper. Yes that's the name. It's a stick bait with blades on each end. Sort of like a Smithwick's devil horse, only bigger in diameter.

buzzbaits, the sizmic toad in a green melon, jointed poppers, knuckleheads, walking the dog with flukes but not spooks.

rob,
up till last year I would have never said the spook was my top choice, but I guess with the clear water conditions we had last summer, the spook sure did the job ...years prior , like I've stated, it was always the popR or timy torpedo, buzzbait got smaller fish, etc..its amazing how each year if dif...alot depends on how much rain ya get....... |
