Spinning reel help.
Well I bought a Shimano sienna spinning reel and it locked up on me with a 3lb bass on.I will keep it for a trout reel, but need something that will crank the bass out of the weedline , but doesn't break the bank buying it. I would like to stay under $50.00 in case I decide to throw the spinning rod back in the rack wth the rest of the stuff I don't use. P N J

I snagged an Okuma Inspira of ebay back in the spring and the reel is just awesome. I got it for $52 shipped. They usually run about 90 bucks. It is very smooth and will crank those bass in with no problem. I got the IS30 model.

If you want a high speed winch check out the Diawa Laguna they are a little over the $50 mark (around $75). I use spinning gear a lot and I bet this one won't stay in the rod rack.

I love the Penn Slammer got two 360's. Cost about 130 each but love the action and with power pro can pull in a boat.
Also check out sports authority stores. We are redoing a lot of the fishing departments and some of the clearance sales are way great.

So what you people are saying is there is no great spinning reel under $50.00 except for the Mitchell avocate ? I looked at them in the gold series, they are on sale for $24.99 at bass pro shop .They have 8 bearings in them and I am a little confused as to how they need to use that many bearings on a spinning reel, but I wasn't able to tear one down to look at it.They have got the extreme reels for under $50.00 and they are a great reel, unfortunately they are a baitcaster. The Okuma's were Ok, I have 2 , 1 is broken after 4 years of use.The plastic housing where the gear rides is so worn it won't crank well anymore.Well I guess I will save up and buy a Fin nor or something like Lizards would buy. Maybe a $500.00 Shimano Stella ? probably not in my lifetime. Hey thanks for your input.I will let you know what I decide. P N J

Well PNJ you got me here. Since I actually don't use Shimano spinning reels anymore. I use Quantum's, and use the Pulse PL40. I like the magnetic system they employ, but they don't last very long either, maybe 2 years with what I put them through. I paid $29-39 each for about 8 of them. The reason I don't like Shimano spinning reels is the screws in the bail mechanism keep working themselves loose, and if not caught in time, work out so much that the scar the spool from the screw. Yes you can use superglue or Locktite on them, but IMO you shouldn't have to add or modify a reel from it's manufactured state for it to work porperly. SO I will agree with zooker, "ONLY" in the spinning reels.
