Great stuff can be used to tack things in, kinda like a poor mans adhesive with lots of bulk, but it is bad idea if you are using tons of it thinking you are adding flotation. It both deteriorates and holds lots of water. I used it in some spots just to hold closed cell white styrafoam that I had bought in sheets in place and I also tacked in some conduit with it. It can be useful, just keep in mind its significant limitations.
I did a poor job coating 1/2" ply last year with fiberglass resin. If you do a good job applying it, the glass would be much better, even though it adds weight it adds some stiffness too. But this year I turned by back forever on rot and damp heavy wood and bought a 4'x10' sheet of .125 aluminum for about $150. I really recommend that if you can at all afford it. It will save money later on. After you get done coating plywood with resin, you are still out a good bit of money and its more work to do the glass. PS, white 2" foam sheet should be available at the home depot behind target in the building materials section. Get the white stuff if you do, the pink absorbs water also and I've heard it reacts bad to gas...(white might react to gas too). |

I only suggest the foam stuff sparingly.. when it comes to a boat where it is subject to all types of conditions outdoors, the foam stuff is mostly designed for indoors, it just cannot hold up to the elements. I used some on my outdoor faucets a few years back and its already been corroded away by the elements
