Big Question
I am about to replace my Gambler Center console with a Mako 2201 from Bass Pro. The boat is sound enough and got good reviews so I am set there. My biggest reservation about pulling the trigger on the buy is the SERVICE from BPS. Any one have any input about that aspect??

I'm not real fond of Mako's as a boat themselves, why don't you look at the Hydra Sports 2300 Lightning Series.

I can't comment on the service dept per say, but when I was dealing with BPS Sales Dept on a boat over a year ago, I found their personnel to be less than professional. I got the feeling they where just too busy to work with me.
I had the hots for one of their newer used trade in's and they pretty much blew me off and tried to get me in a new boat package deal. I wound up spending 5K more and buying a new Ranger from Texas Marine. I hope their service dept is better managed than the sales dept. Good Luck whatever you do..... |

The issue is I guide for LGMouth, catfish, spider crappie and some bay striper fishing as well. The boat needs to go shallow and yet handle bay waves up to three feet. I put out a twenty rod spread at times and also do a lot of live lining as well for cats. Can handle four persons if needed and not beat them to death. So as you can see I have a lot of needs that my Gambler Center Console does minus a foot of waves. Capt Mike

Hi Capt Mike, Have you looked a Ranger yet? Would this fit yor needs? Get a Yammie motor and save some $$$$. http://www.rangerboats.com/flash/spe...ries=saltwater I asume that you use your boat quit often so the added expense wouldn't be a problem. Good luck. Ron |

Ron 50k is more than I can spend. But it looks very nice.
I am going with the Mako after talking to the service manager. I will post a report card later on my experiance. Capt Mike

Pull the trigger already. I've been hearing about new boats and motors for a couple of years now. I'm hoping I'm one of your three research partners. Hey, will you have the new boat by the time we go out this spring?
