Default Depth Finders

I really don't understand how to use these. I understand they use sonar, but when you are looking for structure, how do you find out what structure is where, and how do you identify structure?

Thanks.

Do you have a boat? Or are you thinking about that cast out one? It will show the bottom changes, contour, and the water temp. If/when you get one, rad the owners manual, it should be able to tell you. It all depends on what model.

Yeah, I have a boat. I'm probably gonna help my dad get a new depthfinder.

Depends on what brand! I personally like Furuno (very pricey but good) but alot of the bass guys like Lowrance and Hummingbird. Also I have heard (haven't seen it yet for my self yet) the new digital Raymarines are very detailed.

Chris, many of the Deep water guys need to go to 300-400 feet or deeper(you know better than I do). In bassing rarely are you looking or even fishing in water deeper than say a max of 100'. Many of the higher end and pricey models are due to the depth range they have. Why would you need to spend an extra couple hundered for a depth that will never be used. JMHO, but you can't compare apples to oranges in this case.

Lizards I like the above mentioned due to their clarity! But yes it is also due to their depth range, as we have friend that has a 3kw transducer and we only run a 600 watt and my Zercom in my Canoe is a measly 400watts.
