Default Phantom Red Power Pro

Bait monkey finally got his point across......he wouldn't be happy until I bought some of this. In case you don't know, Power Pro now makes a red braid. I got some in 20lbs test. I'm hoping its just as strong, sensitive, and everything else as the green moss. I'll post a pick up later tonight after I spool some up.

My bait monkey likes red so much because he thinks that fish thinks its blood in shallow water, but since red is the first color to be filtered out of the color spectrum underwater, it should turn invisible or at least have no color. Of course I think the monkey is stoopid cause the 20lbs test has the same diameter as 6lbs mono, its too dang thin for the fish to notice if ya ask me.

T'is why I've always said line visibility is not a factor.

I wish I would have known about the phantom red color before I went out and bought a new spool of Moss green. Well I guess in a few years when it is time to re-spool, or better yet a few weeks when I get my new rod/reel I will have to go out and purchase some.

probably, i picked this up at the local kmart, suprisingly, wal mart didn't have it. our wal mart typically has a much better selection than the kmart. It was $12.99 for 150 yards of 20 lbs test a dollar more than the moss green $11.50 same yard/test. Considering if you use a mono backing you can spool up 2 reels easily, when outer line starts to wear, you can simply peel off and reverse the line (tie the lure end to the spool end now). The line usually stays fairly well preserved when packed ontop of itself so you can simply reverse the line to spool it twice. Considering how much use you can get out of 150 yards, its well worth the money.

Rob, you do realize it's the same dam line, just with different coloring right?

yeah, its the same Spectra fiber, I just don't like how different color dies have a different effect on different materials. red likely doesn't affect it but ya never know till ya try

I would think the red would be a better choice, well for anyone who believes in the line visibitly factor, as Rodman has already mentioned its the first color to be filtered out of the spectrum.

Red is the first to fade at depth, 'tis true. It doesn't become "invisible" however, it turns gray.
Any concerns re visibility can be eliminated by the use of a purpose-made Fluorocarbon leader. I recommend 6-8 feet of P-Line DFX attached to the braid by the &%^$#! J-Knot.

20 lbs grey line with power pro being 6lbs mono equiv. is very likely thin enough to not need a fluro leader. there are offshore fish that can be that line shy but not bass.
