Unhappy Seeing we talked a little about guns

I just wanted to share this.

http://gazettextra.com/news/2013/jan...home-invasion/

And the rest of the story...

Now these are farm folk! This Fulton has like 1500 people, counting the farmers.
They took TWENTY plus guns.
They took OVER $10,000.
If I recall correctly, I believe the victims were in their 50s.
The man obviously put up some defensive battle.

What do you do, walk around the house 24/7 strapped?
Make sure at ALL times every door, every window is barred and locked?
Have a handgun under the couch cushion, just in-case?
Even so, you really think that after you pull the gun from the couch your going to get TWO disabling or deadly shots off FIRST.
Hell, even if I'm strapped...I ain't no John Wayne. Them BA*%RDS are getting ONE of us.

The WHOLE thing just BLOWS my mind.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

I have absolutely NO opinion on this, Zilch, Nada, Zero Input........yet.

Oh, the TWO A$$HOLES GOT AWAY, GUNS and ALL! So far...

I don't know what "everyone" else does. And without too much detail, if someone comes into my home uninvited I'm prepared. I keep a handgun by the front door - ring my doorbell and I will look through the peephole to see who it is - someone I don't know? well the hand behind the open door has a gun in it. While downstairs, we spend most of the time in the family room - yep, there is a gun beside my chair. Upstairs there is a gun beside my bed. There is also one in the spare bedroom (which is our sick room, lol) should I be sleeping there. NOW the important part - THERE ARE NO MINORS IN MY HOME. If I had kids in the house, adjustments would need to be made. Am I parnoid? I don't think so, prepared is how I think of it. I may not survive a 'home invasion" but I will not be a passive victim. Anyone entering my home by force stands a good chance of leaving in a bag, and I hane NO qualms about that - NONE. If I'm in my car - there is a gun in it. If I'm outside, there is very likely one on my belt or in my pocket. Yes, I have a CWP and I don't have one just to make my wallet look thicker.

It's a shame that many Americans feel they have to arm themselves in everyday life, thankfully we have the 2nd Ammendment to allow us to do so. It would be a much better place if we were guaranteed security in our own homes, in our cars, or out shopping - but we ARE NOT. It's up to the individual as to how they deal with that. Do you go around defenseless hoping you never run into trouble? Or, are you prepared to defend yourself and family, if you absolutely have to? Whom do you think "trouble" would rather play with?

The way I see it is, my door locks are not to protect me from an intruder, but protect the intruder from me.

Well just guessing small community well known he has a safe, cash and firearms.
While I have had firearms available in different rooms, wife got nervous in old age.
Used to have them under seat cushions of chairs etc-also have no children, but have a very small 22 revolver I keep tucked iwb under shirt she doesnt even notice its there always,so never says anything-I even forget its there, sitting there watching tv etc,its handy.Get ready to go out I strap on my pa63 back iwb-have a permit.Meaning when out more than one.
So always have one on if dressed, doing even minor things, could one still rob me of what little I have yes be stupid to go for yours while one is aimed at you, only in fear of ones life.Dont have a safe, most of my guns are fairly cheap go bang when needed,be stupid for what little gain there would be to attempt a robbery.
Silly lil 40 dollar ebay remote camera would have some pics, and a trail camera as well.
And hopefully if we didnt survive they would be marked by a couple of 22 lr rounds dipped in )87&^$.
Have a nightstand 45acp,looking for a decent cheap pajama gun.

Now don't forget anglers....this gentleman's wife was in the SAME ROOM.

Joe, bullets rarely ricochet INSIDE a home. Drywall, plaster wood - bullets penetrate and don't bounce around. May off a tile floor, but we are not shooting at the floor. Granite counters also may pose that problem, but the target isn't fixing us a sandwich and the center of mass of an intruder also readily absorbs lead. Certain home defense rounds are also designed to minimize the effect of penetration of several walls inside the home or exterior walls. I love the PDX .410 loads in my Judge, for example.

So what is the greater risk? A bullet ricochet or doing nothing? And a missed shot? Really, inside the home we are talking distance well under 20 feet. If you can't hit a target at 20' standing still or comming at you, you should not have a gun in your hand. Going away, it may be better to let him go, authorities don't like picking up bodies with wounds in the back, so remember to turn the body over and shoot him a few times in the front, to eliminate that issue.

Gosh, Bruce...this is even better than a liberal newspaper article. Now we know exactly where to look...

I'm not going to go into particulars about mine, except to say a burglar would be hard-pressed to find mine when I'm not at home, yet they only take seconds for me to roll into service.

Two young IDIOTS may not of taken the same time to learn about the weapon they got from that last home they invaded. And again, your WIFE is in the room too.

Again remember,
these IDIOTS were not only SEEN by the Sheriffs Dept. but chased, attempted tire spiking and still are at large. This all happened as the IDIOTS were driving FROM the invaded house. Fact, they drove through the 'court yards lawn', but still GOT AWAY. Court yard is 3 blocks from the Police Station, DOWNTOWN, mid city. On like 11:00 on a Friday night. Full staffed force working. Janesville has 50,000 pop. Not a small force at all on a Fri. night.
Takes at least TWO cars to setup spikes and at least ONE chasing actively.
My guess is that this may not be the first uninvited home these IDIOTS have gone to..

Ok, I get it now, you were watching an old Keystone Kops episode...

C'mon Bryce you know how I like stringing people out for a little fun. If you thought for a moment (the lightbulb SHOULD have gone on - for you - when you read "And without too much detail, because I did precisely that and thought I may have overdone it) you'd have realized that I have more guns stashed than I have guns. I did forget to mention the little .25 calibre, nickle plated Baretta that is attached to my key ring - man do I get looks when I hand over my key ring with the little discount clubs cards attached at checkout...

My appoligies to Joe, when you didn't get a response I decided to mess with ya a bit. My bad, I am now in a self-enforced time out - which involves porn - for the next 3 minutes.

So, 3 minutes is all it takes?

Seriously though, I "would" have a pistol loaded and ready to go in a moments notice. My problem though is that I have a nephew and niece who are very young who frequently visit. I would not expect them to snoop and get into trouble, but kids will be kids. If there is trouble to find, kids will find it. So while I have a few guns in the house, none are kept loaded. Yes, I have a trigger lock, but that won't help in an emergency. Intruders won't wait for me to find the key and get the gun unlocked. So where kids are involved, it's a tricky situation.

For those who read the full article.
The road/bridge they found the poor couples truck under was the same one I showed you anglers a pic of.

The road runs between Beloit and Janesville.
Now those of you who 'arm' against intruders would double up if you lived on this road, matter of fact, if you lived in Beloit period. Gun toting gang bangers galore.

I'm sure the IDIOTS met their freinds under the bridge and switched the bounty and left the truck.
The interstate hwy. is like 10 mins. away too.
The bridge is a four laner that leads to interstate.

I've had a few run ins with the bangers there.
It seems to be a good drug sales spot. Kind of a meet a greet kinda place.
