It may amaze you too
I was watching a show called Bass Battles on VS, now called NBCsports.
The competition had a young angler in each boat and one boat had a kid like 9 years old. This kid was amazing to me. He could handle a baitcaster probably better then I'll ever be able to. He had six poles all rigged differently (he chose and rigged). I think you may enjoy. The kid has been fishing since he was 3 and has a little brother who is 3 now, that fishes. He talks about how they can only take him on Sundays because thats thier short day. Anyways its repeat is Thur. 19th of Jan., 10 oclock am Central time.

8 year old with an educated thumb and a knack for wormin.
My oldest son Jason could handle a baitcaster (orig Daiwa Magforce) when he was 8 better than a lot of grown men. On this day we didn't have a camera in the boat and he wanted a picture so bad to show his girlfriend at school we plugged the live-well brought it home took the pic and then released it into a little P&R pond. I am a firm believer in teaching kids respect for nature whether it's fishing hunting or just walking around outside looking and talking.

I've been fishin since 3 (or earlier) and I've been throwin a baitcaster since that age. I'm only 17 now, haha. I won my club a couple years ago, think I was 14 most that year. Out fished all those adults. I'm really thankful I had a dad that taught me how to fish and respect what we have been given. I will definitely pass in fishing to my kids one day.
