Default Opinion ?

Ill be looking into getting a new Rod and Reel at the beginning of the year and I think i've decided on my Rod and Reel. Especially with everyone here so eager to give me there opinions on these rods and reels.

Reel- Bass Pro Shops: Pro Qualifier Baitcast
Rod- Berkley Lightning Rod Shock.

Any thoughts/opinions and or final suggestions before I go ahead and Tie this up as my next rod and reel?

I have yet to tackle a baitcaster although that time is coming, so I really have no advice for you.
I'll be interested to hear how it works out though!

Well in 4 months I'll let you know, that is unless somebody manages to influence my decision somehow...

Yes! Go for the PQ! I hear it's a great reel! But the rod, no. It's a fiberglass/graphite combo. Making for a not so sensitive rod. IMO, you should get a Abu Vengeance or, Shimano Clarus rod, they're basically in the same price range and probably much better rods! I've not used any of them but have handled them and read up good on all of them!

Thanks Bassboss, I didnt look into my Rods a whole lot and really liked the price of the Lightning Rod. If you think these other rods are better and arent 100$ then i'll look at them next time im drifting through Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas.

I'd definately give the Shimano Clarus a look. If you go with the shock rod, remember it was designed for use with braided line and probably don't work good for a lot of techniques if you don't use it.

For a reel, check out the Daiwa Tierra or Abu Garcia Revo S. Abu also has a new, nicely prices reel, the Orra SX. I'd definately check into this.

If you go with an Abu, like bassboss said, take a look at the Abu Vendetta rods.
