Yep, it can certainly get boring fishing the same old spots. To me, a huge part of the thrill is finding them in a new spot or body of water.
I've really come to realize that, since I finally started fishing from a boat this spring. There's been several occasions when I went out to a new lake thinking "It's completely the wrong time of day but I have been wanting to scout this lake...."

Makes me appreciate having a near endless number of public lakes and private ponds to fish, not to mention the 100's of miles of rivers, and of course that "freshwater ocean" just north of here, all within an hour's drive...

I agree that variety makes it more fun, but I like fishing familiar water when I want to work on a new technique. For me at least, it helps to go somewhere I know both the water on the fish.

i say this, if you got the money and can commit for an entire year..do it. if you don't like after that, lesson learned. if you do.....continue.
