bassnman30 has got it right w/the flurocarbon, but another option is a copolymer. Copolymers have characteristics of both mono and fluro.

Suffix makes two that I know of. One is Tritanium and the other was call DNA but i think they changed the name to Promix. I have been using 10 lb DNA on my lipless cranking. The 17 lb tritanium is currently being used for C-rigging and spinnerbaits. This stuff is strong but doesn't have the memory of fluros. I still use fluro for other crankbaits, but will probably start to use it once I use up my stockpile of fluro. Try it and decide for yourself because it depends on what you feel confident with.

Lizards, someone either lied to you, or you posted it wrong. Fluorocarbon is smaller in diameter than monofilament of the same test.

Ok, like people have said, you don't really want fluorocarbon for cranking. And you definately don't want it for topwaters b/c it sinks. You don't really need it for any bait moving fast unless you just don't want the added stretch you get from mono. Fluoro is great for deep water drop-shotting and stuff or dragging a worm and slow moving stuff. When fishing a fast moving bait mono usually gets the nod.

Just my .02. Oh and I'd use the Cajun Red personally or the power pro.

i would never use that red line what they say about it is bull fish can see it a mile a way we triied it for trout and didnt even get a hit

That Crankin' stick that you mentioned. What size do you use for throwin' cranks? (7 foot or 6'6")? Do you use MH or M Crankin' Sticks?

My response was intended as comparing PowerPro to Flouro. Sorry for the confusion. Same goes for Fireline also. The diameter is smaller for the same lb line than flouro. Again sorry for the confusion.

I would use the new Gamma Technologies line I've tested this stuff and man is it good. The line is copolymer so it acts, feels, and looks just like monofilament but it's way stronger. The line breaks under a lot more pressure than the lb test rating, which is the mark that ordinary line breaks. Check the line out and see what you think at www.froghairfishing.com

7' and for most applications medium. With several different rods, (All-Star, shimano, Quantums, Falcon etc...)these are some of my favorites. Low costs and quality made.

I use 10 lb Stren Flurocarbon line for my cranks mostly. I also use a BPS cranking stick that's medium light. I have a Quantum PT reel on it and it's my favorite combo. I caught a pile of fish on that set up last year!

I think most lines that people refer to as monofilament are actually co-polymers these days. Berkley tri-max, sensithin, sensations are all copolymers as well as silver thread, p-line cx, and a whole host of others. It is also often listed on the pkg. coafilament, Stren Prime was one of the earliest but don't think that has been made in a while, like maybe 20 yrs. In fact I think Big game is the only one I can think of that is a " monofilament" line but not sure that is exactly accurate.
I use P-line cx 12lb. for all my crankbaiting.

Thats alot better, the "used to be in Tri- County Bassmasters" 700 yds, man your running short. I've only got appx. 4000 yds. with only about 1800 yds of the 10 lb test. Granted, I've already used over 2000 yds of the Stren Flouo. 10lb test already. Man thats good line. Very few break offs with exception of a catfish that weighed more than I could turn, and that was on 20 lb test. Hooked at Highrock Lake in Swearing creek, at the big rocks. Using a jig.
