I do good on minnows all year long. I buy the bass minnows at my bait shop and always do well on them.

I only use minnows in the early spring just after ice out when the bass are still very sluggish. That only lasts a couple weeks though. I could use them year round. I just prefer using lures the rest of the year. When I do use minnows I use small to medium shiner minnows since I live up here in northern Indiana.

When you think you need to use them, its not when its how you fish them. If you can't catch on minnows you using them wrong.

When fishing for crappie rotfl, otherwise use Shiners or Bluegill/brim/breem/bream, however it's spelled.

Minnows are always a good bet, whenever you feel like you can't catch fish, go out with some live bait, boost your confidence, find fsome spots, and go back out ith artificials.
