Default the monkey is loose.......again

well i had a david fritts crankbait reel break on me halfway through my last tourney. it had something go wrong in the gears and i made it through the day with it but today i took it back to bass pro. i decided i was gonna upgrade to a revo winch rather than get another one, not that i didn't like it but all my other reels are revo's so it just made sense. so i was counting on spending around $125 for the difference for the reels. but after a trip down the crankbait isle, some triple grips, some reel grips, p-line evolution, and a few kentucky lake maps i was in for about $300.

I've heard a lot of good about the revo's, but also have heard that the centrifugal break system is a little weak, any thoughts?
That bait monkey is a sneaky one, he just will never let me get out with one thing.

no thoughts yet on the centrifugal braking system on the revo because i haven't used it yet and all my other revo's are the sx model and don't have this braking system. i have never been too crazy about having to take the side plate off a reel and screw with pins to adjust the brakes, i don't know why they don't just all have magnetic brakes. but i have been nothing short of thrilled with all my other revo's so this choice was really pretty simple and i will give an update on how it works after the weekend.

i do know that there are a few other members on here that have this reel and have been happy with it so i am sure it will be good.

The centrifugal braking system on my Winch is phenomenal. Smooth as a baby's bottom. C-rig, I recommend when you get it, just leave 2 of the pins out if you are going with a 10 or 12 lb line, that seems to give me the best performance. I've messed with it a bunch of times and 2 out (on opposite sides, of course) has given me the best casting distance and the least amount of those err... professional overruns.

+1 for me as well. Tried it with one, didn't work out that well a couple of times.....

I have the revo S which has the centrifical brakes and have no issues with it. I can not imagine that the higher end revo's have an issue that my $129 model doesn't.

Thanks guys, I am quite tempted to try the sx or stx, but I am just such a die-hard curado e fan that it is difficult for me to imagine switching, although the 22 lb drag is really appealing for flipping and pitching into cover.

Thanks for the heads up. Think I better stock up on DF reel internal parts in case something goes wrong in my week long tournament in June.
