Default Hula Popper

How would you rate this topwater...

I've had the larger version but ive had some recent success on the small ones...

If you have a favorite topwater lure/ popper that is successful, you can name that instead. I'm gonna be fishing some lilly pads soon

I think soft plastic baits, such as frogs will work better than popper in your situation.

My favorite topwater lure is by far the Storm Rattlin Chug Bug. I don't think it will do too well in pads though.

they used to make a soft plastic version of the chug bug with a recessed hook just for pads and weeds

you should reconsider throwing topwater hardbaits into pads.a t-rig senko on a 6/0 texposed(no weight) works great and it's more versatile because you can let it fall into the holes in the pads.as for frogs and rats and such.you will get some awesome strikes, however the hookup rate for these baits is poor, especially for the novice angler that cannot wait the 3 seconds before setting the hook on them.even then IMO the catch rate is poor.
the hula popper like almost any other bait has it's time and place to shine..but again IMO,not in pads.
