I am not sure you have to sharpen them for that 1/4 stick. All that is changes is the how clean of a cut.

As a guy myself, I'd have to at least put the effort into it to make it clean cut. I'd have to oil it too. Being on that side of the bull I'd prefer it to be quick too, cause I got a feeling there gonna be some kicking going on.
