Default My Seventh of January

Well I thought I would share a bit of what I had to wake up to this morning. What does Darwin say about this one?

The calf would have been fine if not for it's excessive kicking, he fractured the ice and went through. After the calf decided to go through the ice I had about 20 seconds to decide that it was inevitable, I had to go in after it. The water at that part of the pond was a frigid 4 foot. About 2 feet further out there is a 3 foot drop which would have probably killed the calf (because I was not going over my head). Currently the little guy is dry and sucking teet. Also I am still trying to regain feeling from my chest down.

I can relate. You ever see a 2200 pound pissed off Holstien Bull in a Manure lagoon? I did once it is a real trying of patients.

Veal? You'd still have to go in to get it.

Well I dunno about hero. That thing is going to be worth around 4 to 5 hundred when we take it to the market in the spring.

And as far as having to go in to get it if it had died, out would have came the old Marlin rod and a snaggin hook.

Agreed. I bet the calf won't do that again. Worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I was in over my head searching for a way out. Worse than a broken leg, and much more scary.

Really? Shouldn't you let the little guy's momma do that? Sorry, couldn't resist...

Well I don't know the particulars but I do know that a purebred angus will sell for more at the market.
