Bass Are Not Biting
Hey everyone, I am new on this site and need some recommendations. I would not call myself a avid fisherman but I love it. I have had no luck lately anywhere with the bass and was wondering if you had any tips. I have tried going to slower lures and presenting the lures slower. I have tried fishing spinners and rattlers deep and shallow. I have fished topwater and all sorts of soft plastics. And in the past month and a half I have only managed to catch 5 fish (nothing of good size). Do you think there is anything else I can try or is it the fish?
P.S. The bite seemed to slow after the HUGE full moon Thanks in advance for your help! |

x2 to what Bama said!
What kinda lake ya fishin? Rocks, weeds, brush? Any idea the water temp? What state? Post spawn, pre spawn, or mid spawn? I think you get the idea! But, I'll add this, my fall back is usually always a Wacky rigged senko, good bait when they got lock jaw.

All anglers have trouble, send the bass a subscription to bass digest they will always be hungry trial and error no magic solutions.
I had 28 pds one day, went out the next and couldnt get 1 keeper, pays to toss where fish are at. Main problem is they are nomadic. |

Sorry guys...new at this. I am in North Carolina, fishing Lake Pinehurst. I just moved here so its a new territory to me. The temp is around 71-72 degrees. I have not been able to get out on the lake by boat so it has been all shore fishing for me so far. Around the edges there is mainly grass beds with occasional rock piles. It has been raining a lot since I got up here so that could also be part of the reason they are not biting.
Thanks guys |

rain? what's that, lol!! send it here man, hahaha. we be dry as a bone round here.
now as for what you need ot try, in rain around grass i LOVE to tie on a top water FROG. or a soft plastic frog. or maybe a buzzbait as well. EARLY in the morning it should be a killer bait. jsut as the light of day is starting to peak through....dang, now oyu got me wanting to go fishing and i gotta go to work tomorrow, hahaha. as for the north carolina, we got some folks form up that way. give it some time and they will be commenting for you bub. this being a holiday weekend folks are still enjoying what our servicemen and women have fought for...our freedom. again, glad to have oyu aboard.

You mentioned your in a post spawn period. They are post spawn here too and the bite has slowed quite a bit. Immediately after the spawn, the bass are in recovery mode. But they can still be caught. I caught a bass this past saturday that would have gone over 7 pounds for sure, but weight only 5.2 pounds. She had a huge head and good length, but was skinny as a rail and didn't fight all that hard. The spawn just took a lot out of the old gal. I've been getting fish early morning on Spooks and a couple on buzz baits. After the topwater bite is over, about mid morning, t-rigged creature baits like Beavers, Peca Craws and Wooly Hogtails pitched right down into the grass and worked on the bottom are what's been working for me. A few here and there on other lures, but this is my main stay right now.

hey, ibe, i am in next to Hickory Nc, lately the bite has been less than slow, i have been getting crzy hookups with buzzbaits late in the evening. I hope it is just the prespawn as well.. i am stuck to the shore 100% and using a black/red strike king buzz with holes in blade, also a booyah with like a seceond clacker poppin the blad... get ya a hig gear ratio reel, been using an okuma 7;3 with a MF F rod... 15 mono... though even if i miss the bass on buzzbait they wont take the back up i through...
