Default New rod and reel.

Hi all.

I'm sure that by the next time I go fishing, I'll have a new rod'n reel.I would get a baitcasting reel. I have a pflueger purist casting reel with a 6'6" med-heavy rod. I would like to get a nice setup. Any suggestions? A pflueger reel? I like them so far.

Jools-go someplace that sells reels and handle them. That way you will get one that feels right to you.

Do you mean a store such as Bass Pro Shops? I should be going there for the first time soon.

Do you guys think I should get maybe a heavy rod for frog fishing? What else are heavy rods good for?

Thanks,
Julien

Yep. BPS has all their reels on a rod handle so you can pick them up and crank them. That way you can see which one feels right.

Heavy rods are good for baits like jigs and frogs. They have a lot of backbone for a good, solid hookset. About the only thing I wouldn't throw on a H action rod is a treble hook bait of a small finesse bait.
