Post I need Help.

As in previous posts from othe bass-fisshin members... I need help to catch bass, i have failed at every attempt to catch a bass at my lake. I try to use lures but I have no luck at all...after all I have been fishing lures for only a month but still no luck. I have no boat and no bass experience, i wish to have knowledge of catching them, but I need your HELP! I have only caught one bass which was at lake corpus christi in Texas but it was too small. I need your advice.

Have you tried a buzzbait...just cast and reel with slight pauses...youre bound to hook up.

I have tried all types of lures, but I still cant catch them. Should I try different techniques in reeling them in?

Descriptions of my Local lake:

1: Dirty and not clear.
2: Deep towards middle of the lake, but about 5-20 feet deep upshore.
3: Grassy near shore.
4: Climate were I am from is very hot and muggy, so I am guessing that the water temp is mild.

I do not know the exact details of my lake but I am guessing that I am about right.

Lonestar have you heard of the lake called Lake Casablanca in Lared Tx.?

Try a white or chartreuse color crankbait. and yes you need to vary your pattern, make erratic pauses and moves...this drives bass crazy. and if theres cover around...there gonna be there. and vary the speed of your retrieve also. and try using a bait that you have confidence in, and be patient, the big moma will come. and actually i havent heard of Lake Casablanca...hows the fishing there?

Do what you can to learn about cover and structure and how bass relate to these two things. Knowing these can help you pin point likely places the bass could hold in your lake and change your outlook from fishin' and hopin' to fishin' and catchin'.

You can have a GLX Loomis rod and a Daiwa Steez in your hands, but they aren't going to catch jack if you and fishing where the fish are not.

One other thing I try to do on every outing is to learn something new.

Good luck and don't give up.

If you're fishing from sohore, you might try fishing early in the morning, or just before sun down. If it's hot and muggy, I'd lay odds the fish are in deep water during the hot part of the day. I'd also try a hula popper in the evening, just past the grass in the lake. I almost always get a strike or two on a hula in the evening at the edge of grass and other cover. Hope it helps.

/\ Or you could try dynamite!

Alright that might not get the desired results.

Can you get a lake map or depth map of the lake? This might help you determine where you can cast and find some underwater structure.

I recently fished a smaller lake from shore. We found a depth map ahead of time and then looked it over to find some nicer dropoffs as well as some underwater mounds. We fished these and despite the drought and bad wind we didnt do to bad.

Jr., the water temp is probably in the mid to upper 80s-I fished Choke Canyon last Saturday and the water temp ran as high as 88. I'd fish the grassy area with a weedless weightless bait like a super fluke or a Tiki Stick. Vary the retrieve, work different depths, and early or late this time of year is a good idea.

Isn't Casablanca the lake a guy pulled out 2 13+ bass on consecutive days either earlier this year or late last year?

If you've only been fishing lures a month, then its not likely you'll catch much ive been fishing with lures 3-4 months and just started catching them slowly. You just have to stick with it.

Yep-there is a learning curve with any new lure.

Default plastic worms

some people may not agree but try wave worms with a number 2 offset hook its called a texas rig try many colors brighter works in dark water they are very easy to fish just cast out and leave it sit then lift your rod straight up let it settle back down do this until you get it back to shore this rig is also weedless so it will help in those weeds. good luck

try a snagless frog/mouse lure on the weeds and grass...fish blow up on it...just cast on the weeds/grass, reel, and pause..or you can jerk it back..
