Smile Musky Fishing Today.

OK, so this is follow-up to my thread about saturday. (sorry for any spelling errors, my sister just told me to go look at the setting sun and now I can't see ) Anyways, my dad's friend came to pick us up at 7:30am.

Before I go on, I need to explain that I have had a virus that is going around my school at causes inestinal cramps and such... It is supposed to last 3-5 days, and I've had it since Wed. And of course, I wasn't feeling good this mourning, but my dad's friend recomended a medicine that we bought on the way up there, it worked awesomely, so I got to go fishing after all.

It took about 45 minutes to get to Hudson Lake, MI. Once we got there, we put my dad's friend's 13' Boston Whaler into the water, and I was surprised how stable it was. anyways, we decided to start out trolling, so I put a blue Musky Mania Jake lure on, my dad used a 10" Believer, and my dad's friend: a Rapala on each of his two rods. We were out about an hour and I saw my rod bend over, and my reel starting screaming, then as soon as it started, it stopped. The fish just struck at it.

We continues to troll to no avail, with Believers, Jakes, Lil Ernies, RattleTraps, Rapalas, and others including some hyrbid lures and we even trolled some buzzbaits over shallow water and weeds.

Then we tried casting, then trolling again, then we went in for a break and my dad's friend went to a nearby gas station and got worms. so for a while we drifted for walleye. anfter that we trolled around some more, and still nothing. While we were in, we talked to a guy who said he had fished this lake for 3 years and still hasn't caught a musky.

It was about 4:30pm before we finally came in. We loaded up the trailer and headed home with nothing. I know getting skunked is never fun, but I still had fun just casting the huge lures and watching the actions of them while trolling. Some of them wobbled side to side about a foot. And we could cast like 50miles.

Anyways, it was fun, and my dad's friend said he'd go back tomarrow, but he has to work. We might go next weekend or something. It is definitly fun.

Don't feel bad, BB, after all it is the fish of 10,000 casts. We're heading out after them muskies tomorrow at 7;00 AM. I only live like 5 minutes from the lake, so we're going to get there early. We should met up there and fish together sometime.

yeah, there were a good number of cars with trailer when we got there yesterday, at least a dozen. When we left, besides ours, there were 3 others. The guys we talked to told us not to use real big llures, and they let us look in their tackle box. not much over 7". Some of the lures they were using were deep running cranks that are for bass. They said some of their best lures are the single treble Musky Buck spinners. we, of course, got the bigger double trebled ones. of course. oh well, when we save some more money, we are going to go to bass pro and get some smaller lures and such.
