Braided Line vs. Mono vs. Flouro..
I got two rod and reels I use , I have Mono on one for cranks and spinners , and the other is Flourocarbon for wormin , I just bought Spiderwire Stealth 20# , should I use this for Wormin and Jiggin or stick with the Flouro ? I fish water that is clear down to 8' and some water that is murkey and is hard to see down to 2'...

It all depends on what you want. Braid will give you the sensitivity for plastics and jigs-BUT is more visible in clear water. Up to you which one to use. I would have the flouro on the crankbait rod, as it will sink, letting your baits run deeper, and it will be less visible. It's all up to you though!

I would use the braid in the murky water. I am not much for flouro.

For me it depends on the cover. If I'm fishing flooded trees with a worm or jig the braid gets the nod, but for more open water I'm really starting to like fluorocarbon.

I like the flouro as well. I may rig up one of my rods for worming jigging the lilly pads and trees , then use the flouro for everything else , I didnt think about the cranks having flouro... makes sense though.. thanks everyone..

i do like braid in certain situation such as large reservoirs and lake erie but i prefer mono 80% of the time because of the stretch and i fish a lot of small farm ponds with faster moving baits such as cranks and rat-l-traps... Just my opinion!

i hate all flouro.all flouro lines are way to brittle for me and handle terrible.i don't have time to waste with them.i would use braid .i color the end red.in all but the clearest water this helps with visibility.i would get rid of the stealth and buy sufix braid.if you are considering visisbility i would use cajun red cast mono.

Dodge-I felt the same way until I tried Seguar Carbon Pro on Lightningrod's suggestion-I really like that line.

spiderwire stealth is not a great choice when talking about braided line, although braided line;in my opinion, is the best. if your planning on using braded line get power pro. its the most expensive but the best. i have it it all of my reels. but i fish saltwater so i have no idea if its different when comming to fresh

If you're gonna fish heavy cover or timber, I'd go with the braided. If not, stick with the fluoro. The braided will have more sensitivity and better handling, but may not be the best choice for the clear water.

put stealth and sufix on identical rods with the same reels and same diameter lines.take all the brakes completely off the reels.let a lure drop and see how fast it drops on the stealth rod.then do the same lure on the sufix rod.you will see the stealth rod has a noticealbe drag caused by the line when compared to the sufix.try it with power pro and you will find the same result compared to stealth.also stealth digs in where as sufix will not.stealth also backlashes more and tangles more.

I tried Berkley Vanish Flouro this summer and hated it. Went back to Fireline. I may have to give Seguar a chance.

I went ahead and put that stealth on , and it does have a drag to it , when I cast out the rod tip jumps from the drag.. But I will deal with it for awile..

Lines
Hulapopr;
Try doing braid on your main spool and uni knot or blood knot your braid to flurocarbon. I use this for smallies in NY state when they're finicky with line that's visible. Of course I am not a fish but suspect like we do that they can see the line especially after tournament after tournament is held on this lake now. It seems to be for me the best set up for sensitivity with braid to fluro especially when snagging on rocks or timber. It's really hard to break that braid but a little easier to break fluro. Of course on the other hand it's really a matter of choice and bottom conditions because haven't had much success with any braids not fraying around rocky bottoms compared to flurocarbons on business end. Maybe try someting with the supposed best of both worlds. I like the Yo-zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Soft and IMO the most managable line Ive found is the Sufix Pro-mix like everything about it especially the color lemon-green, it just seems to fit my water conditions to a T. My inshore setup has 50lb Powerpro but again, I use the Hybrid for leader.

This works very well. I use a 20lb-40lb flouro leader for LTJ Force fishing but never had to use it on the Muddy Potomac.. The leader works well in clear water of lower bay and allows you lift a 30lb striper (rockfish) right in the boat with out cutting your hand. Capt Mike
