REVO Winch?
Looking for opinions from anyone using this reel. I need to replace a couple crankbait reels and I ordered one to give it a try. I use Pflueger reels virtually exclusively, but they do not make a reel comparable to the Winch. It's pretty close in profile to the reels I'm using, so I'm hoping if feels similiar in the hand. I did buy one for my nephew last Christmas and he loves it. He is a REVO guy, so he may be a bit predjudiced, but I did order one pretty much on his recommendation. If this is as good as I expect, I may have to get a couple more. Should be here next week and I'm itching to try it out.

The Winch feels slightly bigger in your hand than the Patriarch. It is still a very comfortable reel, if you can forgive the levelwind hitting your index finger all the time.
It casts 1/2 oz and up baits super smooth and the low ratio is excellent for slow cranking.

My indes finger shouldn't be a problem. None of my rods have a foregrip, so my index finger is on the rod blank just ahead of the reel seat. Thanks for the notation of baits 1/2 oz +, so not so good with a 3/8? That's about as light a crank that I throw, but most are 1/2 - 5/8 oz on the rod for which this reel is intended.
Anyone else hate waiting for "new toys"? It was supposed to be here today, but the mailman didn't have it, guess Monday . . . . . so much for "Priority Mail, 3 day delivery" I've found First Class is as fast (usually) as Priority at a lesser cost and if the USPS doesn't get it's act straightened out, they'll be more of their "outposts" closed. Oops, sorry, that's another topic entirely. |

I have Winchs on all my cranking rods and i love them. They are as smooth as a reel could possibly be, they cast a mile, and have an amazing drag. You will love it. The only thing I dont like is having to take the side plate off to adjust the brakes, but with few exceptions once you get them dialed in you don't have to adjust them.

I have a Winch on my deep cranking rod. There are some things I don't like about the reel but they are mainly ergonomic. The reel performs flawlessly and is a great caster. I especially love the extra long handle. It just doesn't fit my hands or the way I palm a reel as well I would like. I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend one though.

I got one about a month ago and finally got to fish it last week. Other than the sideplat ebeing a pita to get to when you want to adjust the brake, it is on of the nicest reels I have. Very smooth, long casts, and as long as you keep your finger out of the way it is fairly comfortable to palm.
