Default To cap or uncap?

I have a duel bank onboard battery charger. My question is: Should I be pulling the battery caps off when charging the batteries? I heard with todays batteries, it wasn't necessary.

What does everyone do?

I leave them on and haven't had a problem. I think it was recommended with some of the older deep cycle batteries but I haven't seen it recommended with the newer ones.

No need to remove these caps on todays batteries. Its a thing of the past with todays batts and chargers.
