Default Pontoon question(s)

Hello guys.... I'm hopeful that some of you who have experience with pontoon boats can answer a couple of questions for me...as far as the pontoons themselves, which is "better", the round or the "u" shaped tubes..... also, with regard to thickness of pontoons, which is thicker, .080 or .100? I had a bass tracker boat salesman tell me the thicker toon was the .100 But I have always been under the impression the lower the number, the thicker the metal.... but it has been over 37 years since I had metal shop in high school...Thanks guys for your help... have a good one

the shape of the floats differ with each persons opion i think. as for the thickness, .100 is thicker than .080. just curious, have you looked at a deck boat? they are different than a regular toon boat. this is what most folks are going towards today. i have a pontoon boat. lowes 20'. sorta round toons on it. i have no problem with it what so ever. just a matter of opion like i said. test drive them all real good before you buy. and when you drive one, drive it like you stole it, for real. give it all you would do with your personal rig.

Yeah...it kinda hurt my feelings one day I was cruising down the lake doing 35 mph, and a big 30-foot'ish pontoon boat came blasting by me probably doing 45. Ouch. That thing was a beast though.
