African American Hurricanes
Black hurricanes?
Well, it appears our African-American 14% have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman, from Florida , has complained tha t the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up! She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in Language that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report. I can hear it now: A weatherman in Miami and Tampa says... Wazzup, mutha-fukkas! Hehr-i-cane Chamiqua be headin' fo' yo azz like Leroy on a crotch rocket! B!tch be a category fo'! So grab yo' chirren, yo' ho, be leavin yo' crib. Head fo' da nearest guv'ment office ta get yo free sh!t! BB

Does this mean people will listen to the weather reports and maybe, just maybe do something like leave the area. Or will it just be another reason to blame somebody else for their stupidity.

Used to be, Hurricanes were named only after women. IE, Camille.
Women's lib groups complained that this was disparaging to them, that these destructive terrible storms were likened to women. Now we have African Americans complaining that they don't have enough terrible, destructive storms named after them? Is there a way sanity can win here? Must we dictate a few, but not too many storm names for each offended group? I for one think the President should name a presidential task force and panel to insure that we come up with the perfect ratio of storm names to ethnicities and voting blocks. He should ask congress for $1,000,000 in funding to aid researchers at public universities, as well as government mathmeticians, to come up with an ideal formula that truly represents the diversity of our country when we try and name tropical systems. All of this would be just about perfect and par for the course. Sometimes I wish Cat 5 Hurricane Quanisha would roll up the Potomac, but that would be unfair to Kevin and the fish.
