Fish Finder help
I went fishing today and noticed that almost every fish was holding at 5'. I figured that meant 5' below the transducer , so i started using a 6' crankbait , and I caught a bunch , my buddy , not so much. I didnt tell him what I was doing. Later in the day , the bite stopped. I idled around the lake , and noticed the fish holding at 13' that was also the depth that the thermocline was visible on my sonar. I couldnt connect with them this time. Is it common knowledge for the fish to hold at mostly the same depth ? Does anyone else fish this way ?

Why didn't you tell your buddy what you were doing? That wasn't very nice. I always try to help out my fellow fisherman while fishing.

No one ever said I was nice.
I did in fact tell him later what I was doing , since it was then obvious it was working. |

i have found that if they were holding at one level, then go to another level at the same spot. the deeper they would go after being shallow they wouldn't hit deeper. don't know why. full?

Fish will often hold at the same depth, yes. Because of a variety of factors, thermocline depth, dissolved oxygen, sunlight brightness, you name it. They don't just pick a random depth and every fish goes and does what he feels like, although there are times it may seem that way.
