Whacked em!
I went out for a couple hours on a pond Sunday afternoon. We final got another warm spell and that moved the fish up shallow. I caught 7 bass total with my best 5 going 22 lbs. I had a 7 lb kicker. I had a 15 minute span where I caught a 4 lber, 5.7 lber , then the 7 lber. All my fish were caught on a black red glitter Zoom Brushhog (the big one). I was fishing it with a 1/16 oz. bullet weight. The slow fall was the ticket. I watched a 3 1/2 lber come up and get it. Almost all the fish hit it on the initial fall next to cover on the bank. When I started getting into the big fish I'd get nervous with every pitch think about what might hit it. My personal record on that pond is 23.7 lbs and if I could have fished longer I think I could have beat it. My daughter was singing at church last night so I had to leave early. Great 2 hours of fishing though!

Sounds like you had a great day. My last outing, I only caught 1 Rockfish. Small - 1 pounder.

My depth finder wasn't working for some reason but I would guess the water temps were low 60's. There are actually 8 ponds on this property. The one I was in I call the Hawg Pond. I catch more big bass in that one than the others. The others are loaded though. It's an old gravel pit. This particular pond has off colored water and is fairly shallow. Lots of wood cover too. Makes it my favorite for pitching a jig or spinnerbaits. Here's a picture (my avatar) of a 6+ lber in that same pond. The 3 bigger bass I caught the other day were in the area behind me in the pic.
BTW... in that picture I went right after work and didn't change. I don't normally wear a golf shirt to fish in! LOL Eric Last edited by BassAddict; 04-04-06 at 02:14 PM. |

JB,
That picture is not from this year but your right... that girls tail bled all over my boat. I caught that fish in late April a few years ago. I don't wear glasses anymore thank God! Eric |
