Default Drop-Shot: setting the hook

So I'm at the grandparents for Christmas and have been and will be fishing the next couple days. I'm gonna try to gain some confidence in a drop-shot since I have fished it very little and not in a year or so.
My question is how do you set the hook? Dont I just tighten up on them? I was told not to cross their eyes so to speak. I'm using a size 1 gamakatsku. (I think they look like crappie hooks but y'all recommended that size). I caught one today, but missed two, one that was definately catchable. Thanks for the help.

I'll make a bragging board thread when I get home to show what we caught. Thanks for the help. Merry Christmas!!!
