Please help, New spot and have to pull a 180 on how to fish (i Think) than the Norm.
Got a new spot. Its a big Pond that is VERY deep. there are other ponds around it that are from the same thing (Old Rock Quarries) they all hold LM. One pond gets up tp 150 or 80 feet deep . not sure about this new pond. It has allot of bank cover, i mean allot. was out there today and did ok. i got 7Lm only two reached the 10inch mark lol. Heard and saw some good bass smacking the surface (3 plus pounds) tried for those and nothing. I was out in the boat. What do you guys think i should do with this pond. Have no clue what the deep water is like as far as under water structure. I fished the banks today with a texas rig. tried a drop shot deep and nothing, but dont think i got it deep enough (Duh ) any help.
This place just got opened by the DNR, and already a 8 ponder was caught out of it (But not released) . Have heard there are some big bass just want to catch them This is all new to me, i fish creeks and smaller ponds mainly, and stick to the T-rig and of course all the hardbaits (nothing to those) what should i try. Thanks, if you need anymore info on what the place is like i will help. Last edited by bubba bass bigfoot; 07-07-07 at 09:23 PM. |

Theres old stone quarrys all around me and we used to fish them all the time.
Look for humps of gravel or stone anywhere in the quarry, many times they will leave piles here and there before they flood them with a near by creek. Also keep in mind that along the edges and for the most part half of the quarry probably had ledges and a rock road to get to the next level down and to let the trucks load and go to and from. If theres chunk rock along the edges, the fish will often hold real close to them, any shade of green lizard usually kills them here. |

If you want to get big bass, try a swim bait in the baby bass patterns.
