that's what I'm thinking for its small size. As far as the tail, it almost looks like an injury, white chunk near the tail indicates scales removed. any bigger teethy fish up there in the lake you were fishing zook?

I have heard of bass with chunks out of them around here from all of the pike and some muskies, don't know why it would be so skinny.

On Badin it's the same way. Fished a wildcat last Sat. and most fish had no belly. They looked as though they had just spawned.
Your right though in Sept. what gives ?

You always use trailers zook? I tell you I have lived on the spinnerbait this year without a trailer.

I use Mister Twister grubs as trailers on the trailer hook. U put you grub on main hook or trailer hook?

That's very interesting about the bloody tails because this weekend at Kentucky Lake, my buddy and I went on the boat to the lake and fished the same type of shallow stuff that Zooker did. The 3 biggest fish all had roughed up tails and blood was coming out of the tails! I've never seen that in late summer before and was wondering if anyone has any useful information about this...

Thanks,
k-driz

I think I noticed a pic of Rat L Traps fish and one had a bloody tail. I have heard of a fall spawn somewhere, but someone on here about 3 years ago told me it was a myth. I'm not sure.

If a fish gets kept in a livewell for a longtime and thrashes about it will get a bloody tail...could yall have caught some bass that were caught and released by tournaments, but not in good shape? Zook, how far were you from where they would release after a tourney?

4 miles minimum from the closest launch..

i hear that some of the old guys swear there is a fall spawn. kinda does make sense..but other than this one fish i can't prove it..

Seems to me that with a fall spawn, all the fry would die from the cold water approaching.

WTL,

I too thought that the "Stein" was depicted in the photo. Zooker maintains that the pic was edited. We are hot on the trail of uncovering the Stein lure. I am hoping that sooner or later we will be in the know.
