baitcaster issue
I have used baitcasters for many years and I prefer them over spinning outfits when applicable. I use Shimano Citicas for the most part but recently purchased a Abu Garcia Orra SX. It worked beautifully for about a month and then it started screaming when I would cast it. It kind of sounds like a dry bearing but I have oiled all the bearings and checked them to see if they were notchy and all seems well. The reel still cast fine but the noise is awful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is its the spool tension causing the noise, next time its making that noise, loosen the spool tension knob really loose and see if it stops. That should help you diagnose the problem at least.
I'm no expert so it could be something else. Last edited by Krtismo; 08-29-10 at 10:45 PM. |

krtismo that is what i was thinking as well. you might want to oil that area and see if that helps. tae the knob off and put some oil in there and put it back on.
