Default making spinnerbaits

Does anyone know how to make your own spinnerbaits? I am interested and was wondering if any of you have anything to share on making your own.

I was about to post the exact same question. I know you can buy the different blades at Bass Pro, and I have seen skirts at Wal-Mart

I would prefer to work with wood, modeling a crankbait would be more interesting to me.

Cheaper I donīt think so, itīs the incredible ammount of customization you can achieve what counts for me, having baits that nobody else has.

Yeah, if you get a Stamina catalog, they offer starter kits, and online they offer several tutorials on how they are constructed, correct blade, split ring, and etc. sizes.
Don't let that deter you though, make the how YOU want them, and you'll be surprised!

i agree, i find spinnerbaits pretty boring. cranks are much more fun, imo. making my own designs and bringing em to life... cheaper? doubt it. anyways, what you do to make spinnerbaits- take wire or pre bended wire. bend wire into spinnerbait shape. use like .378 wire, i think i read somewhere thats the best. then you take a spinner blade. put it on a clevise. stick it onto the bait. the you add a hook. if you want to go the further step, youll need to melt lead. i doubt any of us kids should be doing it, its ridicuolously dangerous. i was going to make some spinnerbaits but then decided to go with cranks.... more money, but safer and much more fun.

I've never made one to save money, it's all about custom designs and the satisfaction of catching on something I made!

When I ordered mine from stamina it was about 4 or 5 dollars a piece. But one thing I did notice is they caught more fish than the $1 ones from wal-mart.

Where Reb? He MIGHT have a tutorial for y'all!

Been making my own for a while now. I get the components from Stamina, the place Raul posted. I'll post a tutorial later-just finished a 31/2 hour drive and am too tired to post it now.

here's my recepe! already had a lead melter from pouring up egg sinkers for catfishin. thats lots cheaper! git your {do-it} molds from jannsnetcraft or whom ever lead from scap yard or plummrs supply. do not use tire wieght for smaller stuff, its too hard and doesnt fill the crannys.or you can order the wires pre made from the same people, paint em whatever color pleases you, coat them with finger nail polish clear coat, buy you r cleavas's and blades from bass pro or netcraft use a snap swevel on the top so you can change blaDES,you can buy premade skirts or tie your own. and if you lose alot they are lots cheaper.

He said "T------l" And on a family forum, at that

Reb has most kindly gifted me with several of his creations and I can attest to the excellence of his product. His attention to detail and creativity are without peer. (Despite that, they catch bass!)
Good, nay, great, stuff.

Well if he wants to sell some I would be happy to give him my money, because handmade is (OFTEN) way better than mass produced!

Well I will correct my self, Most of the time they are, I ahve used some high quality, mass produced spinnerbaits, and some terribly crafted homemade spinners.

You can get stuff from Barlowstackle.com and they have everything from lead to hooks and skirts. And I've found that they are not that expensive but it would be a good thing to sell them.
