Smallie Fishin on the "BIG D" Delaware River
Bronzebacks were bitin big time on the Jersey side of the Delaware this weekend 7/14 & 15. Live hellgramites and watermellon senkos were the bait du jour. Sixteen between me and my brother Sunday. He caught that many himself on Saturday. The two biggins of the day were 17" and over 2 pounds.

Anybody ever fish for smallies near Burlington Island in the Delaware. Just wondering if they held close to the large structure.

Botte, I love fishing the Delaware for smallies. When I lived in the Poconos, I would fish the river almost every evening during the summer. Now, I don't get out there much and if I do, I go out with a guide (I don't have a boat). What section of the river are you fishing?

Deleware
Burlington Island is in between Burlington City NJ, and Bristol Pa, there used to be an old amusent park on it. I dont think theres much bass around it but a whole lotta catifsh, eel, carp and white perch. The more north you travel up the Deleware leads to more smallies it seems.
