Default Sonar Troubles

I have a total of 4 Lowrance units and all of them have some issue or another. The main problem now is with the X96 up front and it loses bottom in any depth over 15-20 feet. I was fishing humps today that I zoomed in on with my console unit in 32' (that held big fish) and when I went up front it said 196', then 2.4', then random stuff. I went in shallow(8) and it came back, but as soon as I went deeper (15) again it lost the bottom. It is using a skimmer type transducer on the TM, not the puck style. Any ideas?

What trolling motor you using and where do you have the power source hooked up on these units. Lemme know this and maybe we can get ya running again. I use only Lowrance units and will never look back so I know these units pretty dang well.

It is on a Maxxum 70 Minn Kota and the skimmer is just behind the skeg. The boat came this way and the power is hooked up to the ACC switch somehow since that rocker switch turns it off. I will check the connections when I get home.

What I am getting at Bender is we need to alleviate the possibilty that your trolling motr is causing the screen to screw up. If your hooked to the batts that the troller is very well could be the culprit. Check that out and make sure that you dont have any other ynit running at the same time that the cables are laying next to each other. One more thing you can do to see if its the transducer or what is do you have any other unit that is the same connections. Such as the blue gray connectors, or the all grey connectors or the all black connectors. You can throw another unit up front for awhile and see if that unit does it as well. If the same happens you got transucer problems be it they way its connected or the ducer is going bad Get the picture bud.

Thanks for the help, I will be contacting Linda sometime soon with a big box full of stuff.
I ended up getting a 520c for the console and moving the X125 up to the bow. It still lost the bottom every once in a while so I put the skimmer transducer that came with the 520 up there and took care of the problem.
I was so close to getting a Bird with the side imaging, bit with the NVB maps it made the price a little too high and I needed something for the next day and didn't want to screw around routing new cables and mounting that big puck on the jackplate at midnight when we have to be up at 3:45 to leave for the lake.
I tried the heat lamp trick to get the moisture out of the X125 and it seems to have worked so far. Our league is tonight and they are calling for "severe storms" so we will see if the screen stays dry.
