A Bassthumb day
Well hit the Old Tomoka River today, and caught a few bass. My thumb is ripped up from lipping all those Bass, got a badge of honor. Caught all of them on a Weightless Zoom Trick worm in Junebug. Big one was around 6lbs, which was also the first bass of the day I caught approx 15, and my buddy caught about 7. Half of them were around 12"-13". Had a couple around 3lbs, and several 2-2.5 lbs. These bass had some serious "GRIPPER TEETH", as PNJ likes to call them. ALl of these bass fight hard, you'd think they were a lot bigger than they are. The temp was around 93, the water temps ranged from 89-90 degrees. HOT AND HUMID LOL. We caught them in the upper part of the river. I fished for salt stuff till around 12pm when my partner arrived, then fished till 5pm when he had to leave. Lot's of fun, and man the thumb is sore, but a good kind of sore. This working 6 days and fishing Sunday isn't all that bad when you have days like I've had the last 2 weeks.

Lizards I had a dink day. No bass thumb but caught about a dozen. It must be nice living where you know you are going to catch bass 3 and over almost every trip out.

I had forgot that you moved to St. Augustine Lizards... if you ever make the... what 3 hour drive west to Tallahassee inform me. The Tomoka river must run all the way down the east coast, because it runs through Ormond beach/daytona where i used to live, or atleast there is a river called the tomoka there.

Got out on the river again today and caught another couple limits with big fish around 2.5lbs and still no bassthumb. My immune system must be kicking in. I'm looking to get smalliethumb tomorrow. Wading the upper Potomac and smallies up to 4lbs were caught in numbers last weekend.
What's the big smallmouth right now in the big fish comp? I may need to find a waterproof camera and bring a tape measure. Last edited by 3dkicker; 07-05-07 at 07:01 PM. |
