i know ck will be jumping off the deep end when he sees this..but knowing the guy. they were after blues 4 miles out from wrightsville beach when they hooked up and landed a 5 foot sailfish..this is NOT the first report of sailfish being caught close to the beach this year it is just the first with pic's..

and yes that is a 18 foot jonboat..

the sailfish are moving close to the beach this year..

Wouldnt want to be caught in that with 3' seas. But thats interesting, before I read this post I figured he must be in the Keys.. very deep water close to shore... but damn thats something else.

i have heard they figure that some may catch sailfish off the priers this year. they are coming in that close to shore -which is very weird but not unheard of..

A guy hooked up with a sailfish off the pier during my trip. Didnt last more than 20 seconds, but I have never seen a fish go so crazy once hooked!

"Cut the line!" you might say. But if I hook something that big, I'm gonna land it if it takes be back and forth to antartica a dozen times!

It appears that you havent seen some of the fine work JB does... I only say this because you would know what Zook looks like, haha. Zooker isnt quite as tan, and not as short either. Just settin the records straight.

Absolutely amazing! I was talking to one of my buddys who said he takes his kayak 2-3 miles offshore of Wrightsville and catches King. I didnt believe him. A kayak 2-3 miles out......catching King!? Get out of town. But I guess this is solid proof that he could be telling the truth.

I believe it. We got guys down here catching AJ's, Kings, Dolphin, and all kinds of other reef critters from yaks a few miles off the beach.
