Great Night Fishing!
I went back to the local pond that I swore did not hold any fish... The one that is always heavily pressured, and that I had ONLY caught 1 dink at previously..
Tried a weightless Senko in Junebug color and immediately started catching fish. Fished for 1.5 hours. Landed 5. Two others got off before I could land them. Biggest one was about 1.5 lbs. All very healthy fish. Was fishing just before dark. Once it got completely dark, the bite stopped. I switched to Tiny Torpedo-no go. Tried a chart/brown/red/orange/glitter spinner bait at night??? Did not know if this had been tried by anyone before, but no bites that way either. I did note the entire time I was fishing, the bass were blowing up minnows all around me. I thought about switching to a floating Rapala, but too many lily pads and I was afraid I would lose my lure. Anyone have any ideas what I should try to catch the bass that are busting minnows on the surface with? Every time I have been to this pond, I see fish surface feeding on minnows. That was one thing that previously bugged me. No matter what I threw they would not touch it, but yet they were blowing minnows out of the water all around me. |

I use flukes when they are in that "mode", sometimes even the minnows they are busting (pretty much garaunteed bass, though not AS fun its still fun)

You can't be afraid to lose a lure!!! I used to worry about that all the time... Trust me the fish you will catch by sucking it up and throwing that lure make the occasional loss easy to swallow. It does sound like a fluke would be a great option too.

JB,
I guess there are degrees of worry... 1st degree - did I leave the garage light on last night? 2nd degree- did i remember to charge the battery for the troller? 3rd degree - Is that a pillow at the bottom of my sleeping bag or a wolverine?

JB, the first one's good, I'll have to try that. Think it'll work with a 12 gauge?
